If you have been involved with affiliate marketing, even for a few months, there is a high chance that you have heard of Mark Ling. Mark Ling is one of the first internet earners the world has seen and his name has been associated with a number of products and books that have been of immense use to millions of people.

His next product, an affiliate marketing service called “Affilorama”, is another high potential product from Mark’s ingenious head. To put it quite simply, Affilorama is a membership site that teaches you the ins and outs of affiliate marketing. If you are a newbie in affiliate marketing, it’s quite easy to get lost in the hundreds of websites that purportedly offer ‘thousands of dollars’ every week but actually don’t deliver even a tiny fraction of what they promise. Hence, it becomes essential for a novice to learn their ways from a trusted partner. That’s where Affilorama can help..

Services Affilorama Offer:

Affilorama offers you, the user, an almost free ($1), trial period of one month, like most other services. During this free trial period, you are able to have access to many of the Affilorama features including unlimited lessons, reviews and support from their system operators. Also, if you subscribe to their newsletter, you have a steady flow of information delivered right to your inbox every weekend.

Affilorama plays, or at least tries to play, many roles at a time. It’s an affiliate training website, it’s an online affiliate community, it’s a news portal for affiliate marketing and it is also a provider of many upsells. To have many facets bundled in a single website is of course great, no doubt about it. However, upon repeated usage of this service, I wasn’t fully convinced that current Affilorama infrastructure is able to handle all these things simultaneously with ease.

Affilorama offers one of the best training services when it comes to affiliate marketing. They have a variety of diverse learning material, tutorials, videos and community forums to help a new user learn their ways about this maze that’s called affiliate marketing. It’s particularly important to make full use of their learning and training tools because as far as affiliate marketing is concerned, the essence lies in the details.

The premium membership allows you to access all the features of Affilorama including access to interviews with successful entrepreneurs, web support, niche support and performance analysis tools like site ranking analysis, SEO analysis etc.

Now for the Upsells!

One thing I don’t like about Affilorama is the Upsells! I have never been a fan of upsells, I hate it when you join a program believing it to be really great, only to find that you need to purchase other products to make it better.

I have summarized the Upsells offered by Affilorama below:

Upsell 1:  AffiloBlueprint 3.0 Membership
($197 to start with then $67 per month) AffiloBlueprint is an add-on tool that includes 13 lessons and 85 highly useful videos that are designed to help you through the basic concepts like affiliate marketing strategies, niche analysis, traffic monitoring, SEO techniques etc.
This service doesn’t entail any support from the support staff. So, you have to shell out the additional $67 monthly fee to get that.

Upsell 2: AffiloJetpack Membership
($497 one time) This is an upsell designed and monitored by Mark Ling himself. This includes an in-depth support for five niches of your choice and a host of other stuff like newsletters, e-mail marketing, eBook related to your choice of niches, AffiloTheme subscription etc.

Upsell 3: AffiloTheme
($97 yearly) An interesting upsell offered by Affilorama is AffiloTheme. It’s a theme for your WordPress site that’s been specially designed to match Affilorama tools. You get free help and support and one year of hosting with this purchase along with graphics and a variety of designs to go with your ideas.

So you see, Affilorama Premium ($67 per month) is only the basic program offered within this system. If you took them up on their upsell offers, you would be spending $791 then $67 per month for the Premium membership. There are far better alternatives available for a fraction of the price.

Who can benefit from using Affilorama?

To be honest, anyone who wants to start out with affiliate marketing, has to rely on a service like Affilorama rather than learning everything the hard way. That’s what makes Affilorama attractive for users, particularly novices. Affilorama doesn’t require much technical prowess or past knowledge to begin with but previous knowledge of how affiliate marketing works is definitely a plus point. So if you are a tech savvy college kid, work at home mom, retired grandfather, it just doesn’t matter. Affilorama is for everyone.

Does Affilorama offer Help and Support?

With the premium membership, yes, certainly. However, I found that it’s tough to get good support from their staff unless you are a paying member. That makes sense, but it’s just a thing to look out for. Also, their community Affilorama forum is pretty solid and there are tons of regular contributors that share their problems and solutions. This is really helpful as it gives you an idea about what to expect.

Pros and Cons of Affilorama:

Pros:
• The names associated with Affilorama, particularly that of Mark Ling, are in high standing among internet entrepreneurs and this renders some credibility to Affilorama.
• The site navigation is simple. Their upsells are particularly helpful if you are in the advanced stages of affiliate marketing.
• The support you get with the premium membership is prompt and helpful.
• The tutorials, learning material and videos are designed taking into consideration every aspect of internet marketing. I loved their videos for their effective narration and explanations.

Cons:
• MONEY! Affilorama memberships are VERY expensive if you compare them to some of the other players in the same arena. Their upsells are exorbitantly priced and I  honestly doubt if anyone wanting to make money off the internet would be willing to spend so much money for them.
• The trial period doesn’t offer too much to their users.
• Some of the business ideas they pitch are, to be blunt, antiquated. For example, pyramid marketing has been known to be a hollow scheme for years now.
• They promote the use or Private Label Rights (PLR). As a premium member you get 30 PLR articles every month. This is also outdated and can adversely affect your google rankings by using them. Using duplicate content on your website (even spun content), is definitely not a good idea.

Affilorama V’s Wealthy Affiliate:

I have put a no against the free trial period, even though the first month only costs you $1, they still have your credit card details and unless you cancel before the month is up, you will be charged. Whereas, at Wealthy Affiliate you never need to supply that information unless you decide to go premium. See what other people are saying about Wealthy Affiliate.

So, here is what I think of Affilorama:

Affilorama is certainly useful if you can afford the steep membership prices. It’s definitely legit and there are tons of tools to help you through your affiliate marketing plans.
In summary, go for it if you can afford it.

Would I recommend Affilorama?

I would recommend it for its authenticity but I think it is overpriced and I believe there are better alternatives. Affilorama is not the best affiliate program available. If you are serious about becoming an Internet Marketer, I would highly recommend Wealthy Affiliate over any other affiliate programs. It is cheaper than Affilorama, (see my review) and is an overall better program than Affilorama.
